Guide to Back to School lunches

The month of August is officially the month of Back to School! Can you believe that June and July are over? Now, it’s time to gear up for back to school season! The hardest part about back to school is finding the time for healthy back to school lunches! The hardest part is… getting everything from the grocery store! Here’s a guide for both you and your kids to get the BEST ingredients at the grocery store to have to best school lunches. Ditch those cheetos and pretzels, healthy meal prep lunches are the way of the future and your kids deserve to have great tasting food that will leave them with natural energy all day long! We’ve also added some great recipes for lunches and breakfast for your kiddos. Don’t forget, we’ve also added our favorite eco friendly supplies to help get your kids off to school and making a difference in our environment!

Here’s our ‘back to school’ grocery list


Fruits & Veggies:

Fruits and veggies are a perfect addition for any lunch. From sliced bell peppers and cucumbers to snacking on mixed berries. Fruits and veggies are the perfect way for your kids to snack of something that’s good for you!

  • Sliced apples

  • Mixed berries

  • Sliced cucumbers

  • Sliced carrots

  • Cherry tomatoes

  • Celery

  • Avocados

Please note: there are many sugary fruits out there, try to stay away from fruits that are high in sugar like:

  1. Grapes. One cup of grapes has about 23 grams of sugar.

  2. Cherries. A cup of cherries has 18 grams of sugar

  3. Pears. One medium pear has 17 grams of sugar.

  4. Watermelon. A wedge of watermelon has 17 grams of sugar.


Protein is an important part of ones meal. It is important to note that not all protein is created equal. Buying organic, grass fed meat is extremely important and makes a huge difference. For those who don’t eat meat, it is important to get your protein from others sources like nuts and beans!
