Ingredients

1 package of Aidell's italian Style Links
Sauce:
1 can (28 oz) can diced tomatoes
2 teaspoons grated garlic
¾ cup diced yellow onions
1 Tablespoon julienned basil
½ teaspoon fennel seeds
2 Tablespoons olive oil
4 Tablespoons freshly grated pecorino romano cheese
salt
Buns:
15 slider buns or small dinner rolls
4 Tablespoons olive oil
2 teaspoons grated garlic
2 Tablespoons freshly grated pecorino romano cheese
freshly cracked black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Method
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Heat olive oil in a medium sauté pan over medium-high heat. Add onions, garlic and fennel seeds and sauté until the onions are soft and translucent, approximately 8-10 minutes. Add tomatoes and reduce heat, simmering for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Transfer to a blender and puree. Return sauce to pan, season to taste with salt and add basil and meatballs. Simmer until meatballs are heated through, approximately 8 minutes.
To make the buns: In a small bowl, combine 2 teaspoons grated garlic and 4 Tablespoons olive oil. Using pastry brush, brush top of bun with garlic oil, sprinkle with pecorino romano cheese and fresh cracked black pepper.
To assemble: Spoon some sauce on the bottom half of bun. Place meatball on bun, sprinkle with cheese and top with remaining half of bun.
